Kingley Vale, West Sussex

Kingley Vale in West Sussex near Chichester is an ancient wood full of fascinatingly twisted veteran yew trees. Some are amongst the oldest living things in the country. A trail leads you through the woodland and onto the chalk grassland. It’s a beautiful walk, full of variety and is the habitat of many different birds and butterflies. We visited on a bleak and misty afternoon in January so wildlife was scarce but were lucky to occasionally see glimpses of sunlight through the dank and dark woods making it even more mysterious.Kingley ValeKingley Vale 2
