Scottish Pride …

A week after Brighton I hit the streets of Glasgow to see the Pride parade through the centre of town and on down to Glasgow Green. It was different … but equally interesting and photogenic. There was less dressing up – is it more of a challenge in Glasgow than Brighton to be LBGT or supporting Gay Pride, or is it too chilly (most of the time!) to strip down to glitzy hot-pants?

A passion for supporting others less fortunate in countries with repressive regimes, where to be openly lesbian, bisexual, gay or transgender could mean imprisonment or death, was common between the two marches. As was the atmosphere of celebration and “in yer face” joy that the march engendered. Glasgow Green saw parties, sideshows, music, speeches and Heather Small .. not to mention a little (hmmmm, make that a lot of) overindulgence!

A fun day indeed …

Resolving or letting go?

This quote from Marianne Williamson is worth considering as we dive into 2013 and our ‘resolutions’! Irrespective of your religious beliefs (I’m personally still figuring that one out) there’s merit in letting go and trusting the universe.

In fact I’m going to make that my plan for 2013 … oops … there I go again ….

“When we surrender to God, we surrender to something bigger than ourselves – to a universe that knows what it’s doing. When we stop trying to control events they fall into a natural order, an order that works. We’re at rest while a power much greater than our own takes over, and it does a much better job than we could have done. We learn to trust that the power that holds galaxies together can handle the circumstances of our relatively little lives.”
