Gemma and Nick’s wedding … part 1

Gemma and Nick Huggett married in St Andrew’s Church in Cobham followed by a sumptuous party at Painshill Park on 24th June 2017. It was a very elegant yet extremely relaxed and joyous occasion celebrated with friends and family. The weather was gorgeous; sunny with clear skies and the church was a beautifully atmospheric venue. Reverend Charleen Hollington conducted the ceremony which was both moving and full of laughter. As you know my blog is more about the images than the words … so enjoy the first part of day!

Laura and Phillip get married …

Laura Winchester and Phillip Rudd planned a gorgeous vintage, rustic wedding on 18th August 2017. I was absolutely delighted to be asked to photograph the wedding as I’ve known Laura for a number of years and love her creativity and sense of fun. The ceremony was in the beautiful Southover Grange in Lewes followed by a hog roast and dancing at Rushford Farm.

The couple with help from family and close friends created a lovely space to party in a previously empty field. There were marquees, an open fire, play areas for the kids, hay bales and sofas to lounge on, cider and champagne to drink, amazing cakes to eat and the a most fantastic dessert buffet I have ever seen. Laura’s forties styled dress was handmade by her Uncle David and was absolutely stunning. The suggested dress code made for some very stylish outfits. The weather threw everything it had at the day but it was such a fun filled, energetic event I’m not sure anyone cared! Many congratulations to the lovely couple!

April wedding at Southend Barns

Lex and Andy married at the stunning venue of Southend Barns in Donnington near Chichester. The beautifully restored and decorated barns are part of a working farm. The day was simply gorgeous. Everything went smoothly, including the spectacular Chinook fly past and as a friend of the family it was a privilege to be invited as a guest as well as photographer. Obviously my celebrations didn’t start until work was finished, although I did enjoy taking candids of the after dinner dancing and craziness! The meal and canapes by Food and Fork were fantastic and the flowers by Wild Willow were simple yet stunning; fresh and natural and perfect for this stylish wedding.

An October wedding – Southern style!

Last month I was privileged to attend and photograph my partner’s son’s wedding near Kingsport, Tennessee. The wedding was organised and styled by April and Jon with lots of help and support from their families. It was held at lakeside venue run by the venerable Katie and was a stunningly beautiful day, with the sunshine and location bringing many and varied photographic challenges!

A fun celebration of love, joy and family, the entire day was brimful of laughter. I even managed to slip into a couple of the group photos but most of the day was incredibly busy as so much happened – processionals, dollar dances, cake-cutting, group dancing and a host of other moments – many traditions completely new to me. Hospitality was typically Southern with delicious food and drinks flowing throughout the evening. Favours and gifts were very personal and included jars of handmade apple butter, a local speciality. It was a delightful day and a pleasure to photograph; my very best wishes to April and Jon for a wonderful life together.

Beautiful village wedding

Tam and Giles chose to have their wedding at All Saints Church in the historic village of Lindfield. A beautiful ceremony was followed by a walk through a tree lined alley to a marquee overlooking nearby fields. A gorgeous setting for a lovely couple! Tam & Giles Pre-wedding Shoot, June 2015

Tam and Giles are getting married in August and we got togther last weekend for a pre-wedding shoot. We explored the area near the church where the wedding will be held in Lindfield, Sussex. It’s a relaxing and fun way to get to know the bride and groom better and to scout for locations for the wedding photos. Late afternoon light was lovely as they wandered in the fields and through the village. Lindfield is very pretty with All Saints Church grandly dominating one end of the High Street, it’s a stunning venue for a wedding ceremony. Tam and Giles are fun to spend time with; full of love, humour and a sense of adventure. I’m looking forward to the wedding!

A New Year Wedding at Coworth Park

I was privileged to photograph a beautiful wedding on 31st December 2014, a wonderful way to end the year. It was held at Coworth Park in Ascot, a stunning venue for a winter wedding. The event was small and private so I’m sharing only a few of the images of one of the happiest weddings I’ve attended. Everyone smiled all day; Julie, Andrew and their guests were delightful to work with and the weather was lovely. I was lucky enough to be at the New Year Party in the evening … still with camera in hand (of course!!) as a guest with my partner, both of us able to enjoy ourselves till well after the “bells”. I’m not a wedding blogger (as I think you can tell!) but I do enjoy sharing my images, especially when making them has been so much fun.

Jemma and Amy party on ….

Amy and Jemma’s wedding party moved on to Beechwood Hall in Cooksbridge where the theme continued to be vintage with a rustic feel. Tables of old fashioned sweeties, a market stall, hay bales and handwritten signs made a lovely setting for the evening guests and wedding party. The bar was opened and music and dancing began. I left before the party really got started …. from what I hear it was a lot of fun!  Evening-2

Jemma and Amy get married …

Jemma and Amy’s wedding at Anne of Cleaves house in Lewes was a magical day. They are a lovely couple and it was a pleasure to share their day and try to capture the love, fun and excitement that was in the air. The girls had chosen a stunning venue for their ceremony and the weather was reasonably kind to them. Each small detail had been carefully thought through and the finishing touches were mostly hand-made by friends and family. From the vintage tea settings to the beautiful gifts and decorations, everything was gorgeous with small touches of humour. I had a busy day, starting with Jemma and her bridesmaids, then a mad dash to find Amy and her bridesmaids (who were secreted in a room upstairs at Anne of Cleaves to ensure the couple were kept apart until the right moment!)

There was a real sense of joy in the room as their commitment was made; despite the gales of laughter when passing tourists peered into the room to see what was happening. Time flew by as we tried to gather all the right people in the right place at the right time … herding cats is such a terrible expression!! I managed to have some time with the couple away from their guests with the VW Camper Van as the star of the show!   Getting Ready 1-1 Getting Ready 1-2 Getting Ready 2-1 Getting Ready 2-2 Getting Ready 3-1 Getting Ready 3-2 Arriving-2Arriving-1Getting Ready 4-1 Getting Ready 4-2Ceremony-1 Ceremony-2 Couple-1 Couple-2 Speeches-1 Speeches-2 Table
